April: Celebrate gAyPRIL

Campus Pride Month

About

Celebrate Pride Checkout our list of books and more.

June is Pride Month, but colleges and universities celebrate Campus Pride Month in April since their students leave campus during the summer months. Across the United States, LGBTQ college students and allies are planning events and showing their support for the LGBTQ community on their campuses. gAyPRIL is held in April to allow students on campus to support and celebrate during the school year.

José Sarria Pride Center at VVC

Victorville, CA – Victor Valley College (VVC) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its first-ever LGBTQ+ Student Resource Center. This historic event will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Building 30 on the VVC Campus.

The event, titled VVC Proudly Presents: The Jose Sarria Pride Center Opening, will be a celebration of inclusivity, community, and history. Attendees will enjoy a resource fair, live music, food, and beverages, alongside an opportunity to connect with key LGBTQ+ organizations.

In partnership with the Jose Sarria Foundation, the Imperial Court, WOW Clinic, St. John’s Wellness Center, the High Desert Pride Center, and Film Biss Studios, the grand opening will provide essential resources for LGBTQ+ students and allies. The event also pays tribute to the legacy of Jose Sarria, a trailblazing advocate and the first openly gay candidate to run for public office in 1961.
