Finding Articles

The Library subscribes to online databases that provide access to full-text magazines, scholarly journals, newspaper articles, and eBooks. Since databases are subscriptions that contain copyrighted written materials, off-campus access is password protected. To search from home you will first need to log in using your MyVVC credentials. The following databases are suggested for English Learning related research:

Gale OneFile: Informe Acadmico
Search across full-text Spanish- and Portuguese-language scholarly journals and magazines from and about Latin America.
Gale Opposing Viewpoints In Context
Provides a complete one-stop resource for information on social issues. Access controversial viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to Web sites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.

MAS Ultra - School Edition (EBSCOhost)
Contains full-text for nearly 500 popular magazinez and e-books covering many subjects, including history, science and health. The collection is geared toward high school libraries but it is also a useful resource for college students majoring in education.
Overdrive
Provides access to popular and bestselling eBooks and eAudiobooks. Titles are automatically returned at the end of the loan period, and there are no late fees. Download the Libby app to access from your mobile device.
Primary Search (EBSCOhost)
Provides full-text for popular magazines suitable for elementary school students. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles) and date back as far as 1990. Great resource for college students taking education classes focusing on elementary grade levels.
